What's the difference?
EVENT DECORATOR vs EVENT PLANNER vs VENUE COORDINATOR
Event decorator
(aka Event Stylist, Designer or Wedding Decorator)
An Event Decorator focuses on the aesthetic aspect of your event. They provide decor, design, stylized set up and
take down services of decor. They do not attend the event.
Event Planner
(aka Event Coordinator, Day-of Planner, or Wedding Planner)
An Event Planner oversees all vendor contracts on your behalf, to be sure hired services are being met throughout your day.
They are in attendance on the day-of (and in some cases at the rehearsal and/or previous vendor appointments.)
Their job is similar to that of a director, foreman or supervisor, and considered the “go to person” for answers instead of you.
Venue Coordinator
(ake venue manager or site manager)
A Venue Coordinator focuses on the venue and any logistical needs you may have regarding the event space, its contents
and services they offer - such as catering, bar, cleaning staff, utilities, furniture etc.
They will ensure the needs of your guests are attended to, and that house rules are being maintained.
SWEETHEART TABLE vs HEAD TABE vs KINGS TABLE
Sweetheart table
This is a decorated table for just two (2) people, typically the wedding couple,
and is often a main focal decoration at a wedding reception. It is considered intimate and visually appealing.
Head table
This is a decorated table for the entire wedding party (not just the couple).
Traditionally consists of multiple tables to make one long table, with seating on one side only (facing guests).
Kings table
(aka Captains table, Family style table)
This is a decorated table for the entire wedding party (not just the couple).
Traditionally consists of multiple tables grouped together, but with seating on three sides
(to face each other; encouraging socialization amongst the wedding party)
What is it?
CHARGER
Similar to a placemat; It is a table decoration that designates space for a place setting.
You do not eat off of a charger plate, mat or similar product - as it is for
decorative purposes only. Dinner plates go on top of a charger. Can be made of glass, plastic, rubber, paper etc.
CRUISER TABLE
Also known as a pub table, or cocktail table.
It is a bar height table used typically during cocktail hour
for guest convenience when standing and eating / drinking.
Height is usually 42”, with a small top diameter of 24-36”.
